Drug and alcohol addiction is a serious problem facing millions of Americans. While many people feel they know the ‘face’ addiction, the truth is that there is no ‘face’ of addiction. Addiction knows no limits such as age, race or even societal standing. In fact, a person of high influence and power is just as likely to succumb to temptations as a person from more meager standings. In Tennessee, this is just as true as the rest of the country.
The state of Tennessee knows there is a growing problem with drugs and alcohol in the state and is taking steps to counteract this. To help combat this growing problem, Tennessee has installed many statewide initiatives and programs. The Prescription for Success program, for instance, aims at educating the public and raising awareness to the dangers of prescription drug abuse. The effects of prescription drug use can be severe and life altering, including user overdose, dependence, and can even cause newborns to be born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.
To help legislatures and other government agencies; there are a variety of consumer and citizen driven programs in effect. The Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug & other Addiction Services (TAADAS) is made up of thousands of addicts, family members and others affected by drug and alcohol addiction. TAADAS has made it their mission to help educate the public and advocate for better treatment and recovery services in the states. Among their efforts are special training courses on a wide variety of drug and alcohol addiction topics.
Drug and alcohol addiction is a serious problem throughout Tennessee and America as a whole. Finding the right treatment or rehab center in Tennessee should also be a serious matter.
